Foundry Tips and FAQ To help you thru the Foundry Website, here is a list of the most commonly asked questions. Metals Poured We pour mainly Ductile iron, grey iron, low alloy steels and mild steel. Click here for our complete list of metals Weight restrictions Out limitations by weight is around 750 lbs, irons maybe a bit higher, and on certain shapes we can also go higher, check with us for clarification. Our minimum is 2 to 3 oz Size of castings On the Automatic molding machines 20 x26 x 8" high On the Jolt machines, 32 x 38 x 20" high, on the floor, 50 x 50 x 30" This is only a rough guide. Do we need a pattern? Yes, we will require a pattern. The price varies from $500 to $15,000 depending on the shape, the difficulty of the casting and the quantity to be made. We can quote you a pattern price or you can deal directly with the patternmaker. If it is someone whom we do not deal with regularly, have them contact us and we can tell them our requirements and restrictions. What is your minimum order? We will cast one only of an item. We can also cast 100,000 of an item in a timely fashion if it fits on our automatic machines. Delivery Information Delivery time depends on whether you have a pattern or not. With a pattern, delivery is 4 to 6 weeks but that may change depending on the market. Please with us for the exact delivery time. If a pattern is required, please add 1 to 6 weeks for pattern manufacturing time. One week for simple patterns, up to 6 weeks for pressure cast match plates for higher production. Rush Orders If you need something quicker please check with us for available production. Surcharges may apply. Are you ISO certified Yes, we are ISO 9001:2000 registered What is your budget price for the metal I want? We do not quote price per pound. We will work out a quote, taking into account what machine it is run on; are cores required; what level of finish is required etc. Your best course of action is to send us a drawing or sketch and advise what weight you think it will be.
