PLANT SITE
Central Newton Industrial Area, Surrey, B.C. Near major freeways, railways, 25 km from Canada's largest port, Vancouver International Airport, U.S. Border and 160 km from Seattle, Washington.

PRODUCTION CAPABILITIES
Specializing in high performance Ductile and Gray Cast Iron, Carbon and Low Alloy Steel; We also cast Stainless Steel and Copper-based alloys. We have added ADI (Austempered Ductile Iron) since the spring of 2004. For more information on this high strength, low weight material, please see the website www.aditreatments.com or contact us directly. While our automatic molding machines can produce cost efficient high quality runs (100,000 plus), we specialize in small to medium production runs for small to medium-sized castings.

CASTING PROCUREMENT

HOW TO COMMUNICATE WITH THE FOUNDRY - HELPFUL HINTS TO CUSTOMERS

1. Supply a drawing or a sample.
2. Give the casting one unique name to be used on all documentation.
3. Give the casting one unique part number to be used on all documentation.
4. Provide a brief description of the use of the item.
5. Refer to a standard material specification.

ROBAR usually works ‘to ROBAR standards’, although special specifications from other authorities, or ‘to customer requirements’ are also used. We have found the following ROBAR specifications for cast metals appropriate for most casting applications:

Metal

Class

i.e.

Gray Irons

Class 20 through 40

RG-20

Ductile Irons

Grades 60-40-18 through 100-70-03

RD-60

ADI

Grades 125-80-10 through 230-185-03

RDI-125

Carbon Steels

Grades 60-30 through 70-40

RMSA-30

Low Alloy Steels

80-40 through 175-145

RLAS-40

Stainless Steels

Grades 304 and 316

It can be said that all foundries employ their own methods for doing things. For this reason it is important that the customer communicates with the foundry before finalizing plans. The Foundry Methods Engineer can make suggestions which may save material, reduce costs or speed delivery.

ROBAR is anxious to co-operate in determining the best design and method for production.

These 200-pound ductile iron structural connections cast by ROBAR are an intergral part of the architecture of the North Atrium Facade at the Surrey Central City Complex. (Formerly the Surrey Place Mall).
